Waterfire
Providence,
RI
Waterfire in Providence Rhode Island is on
three rivers of downtown Providence and has been praised
by Rhode Island residents and international visitors alike as a
powerful work of art and a moving symbol of Providence’s
renaissance. WaterFire’s one hundred sparkling bonfires, the
fragrant scent of aromatic wood smoke, the flickering firelight
on the arched bridges, the silhouettes of the firetenders
passing by the flames, the torch-lit vessels traveling down the
river, and the enchanting music from around the world engage all
the senses and emotions of those who stroll the paths of
Waterplace Park. WaterFire has captured the imagination of over
ten million visitors, bringing life to downtown, and
revitalizing
Rhode Island’s capital city.

Quabbin
Memories I
used to live in Oakham Mass and became fascinated with the
history of Quabbin Reservoir. One of the interesting facts
is four towns were submerged to create Quabbin. They
are Enfiield, Prescott, Greenwich and Dana. Also 25% of
Oakham was taken for Quabbin and also in Rutland. One of my
favorite hikes is take a bucolic walk to Dana
Center. The buildings are long gone but the foundations
are still there. Dana center was not submerged but is very
close to the shore of Quabbin Reservoir. I wanted to do a
watercolor in memory of the four now lost towns and thiis
painting is of a Sunday morning sometime in the early 1900's.
Bring your binoculars because you might see a bald eagle!

Eddies
Diner on Route
1 Go
back to the late 1960's and your traveling down route 1 in
Walpole, Mass. It's time for breakfast and of course, you
pull into Eddie's Diner. In the parking lot are cars from famous
places along route 1 such as the Red Wing Restaurant, Art
Johnson's, and Norwood Arena. Later on, if you show up
here after midnight be prepared to stand in a long line as I did
many times.

Lemonade. In 1948, Del's Frozen Lemonade acquired
it's name and became the sole product sold at this little stand

there are many Del's franchises worldwide providing the

Going
for Ice Cream
at The
Bubbling Brook
Westwood, MA
Yep,
that's the famous Bubbling Brook in Westwood, MA. The good news is this
great place is still there serving freezes, ice cream, and fried clams!
Remember the cars racing up the hill or the frog rock nearby??? How
many of us while in college drove our VW to the brook??

The
Enchanted Forest
Hope, RI When
you think of where to take your children or grandchildren the
place was the Enchanted Forest in Hope RI. This was a great
place to take your young children for a day of fun and
entertainment. The
Enchanted Forest of Rhode Island opened in 1971
and
featured small-scale rides,
petting zoo, and the old woman's giant
yellow shoe which functions as a slide. In 2005, the park unfortunally
closed.
